A monthly conversation with the people who built and run construction and industrial firms across BC and Alberta. Not thought leadership. Owners on what they built, what's hard now, what they wish they'd done differently, and what the consultants who keep calling them never bother to ask.
From the Floor is a year-long series of twelve interviews with owner-operators of construction and industrial firms from $5M to $250M, working across BC, Alberta, and the prairie provinces. We start with smaller firms and scale up. The early episodes will be the most accessible because the founder-as-operator pain is sharpest there.
The format is simple: one operator, one hour, six questions. The same six every time. The build. What's hard now. The call you're about to make that you wish you had a second brain on. The operating leak you can name in dollars. When you first realized the team that built it might not be the team to scale it. What's coming for the segment in five years.
The owner's answer to those six is what fills the episode. Whichever one they go deep on becomes the episode's center, and we tag it that way at the top so you can browse to the topics that match what you're sitting with.
We publish quotes only with explicit signoff. We do not publish what owners ask us to keep off the record. We do not run sponsored placements. The series exists because the conversations construction owners have with each other are the most useful conversations in the industry, and almost none of them get written down.
If you're an owner or partner in a construction or industrial firm in the $5M to $250M range across western Canada, and you have something to say about how this work is changing, we want to talk to you. The early-stage and mid-stage stories are the ones we need most. The interview is the gift. We do not pitch in it.
